What Is TrackManager?
TrackManager is a UK tracking platform covering both ends of the market from one system — Thatcham-approved S5 and S7 units for private vehicles, and a full fleet platform for businesses running anything from a couple of vans to a yard full of them.
Three things make it our go-to for commercial customers. First, it comes in two tiers: TrackManager Lite for straightforward track-and-trace on a low monthly cost, and the full TrackManager platform when you need driver behaviour reporting, tachograph data and proper analysis. Second, it bills monthly without a long tie-in, which matters when your fleet size changes through the year. And third — the one that saves people money down the line — a TrackManager fleet unit can be upgraded to a Thatcham-approved system later if you ever need it. Buy a fleet unit today for the reporting, and if a vehicle moves up in value or an insurer changes their requirements next year, you upgrade rather than start again. It future-proofs the decision.

The TrackManager Range We Fit
TrackManager S5 — Thatcham S5
The insurance-approved S5 system with driver ID tags. The tag stays with you, and if the vehicle moves without one on board the monitoring centre is alerted straight away — even if the thief has your actual key in their hand. This is the tier most insurers specify on higher-value vehicles.
TrackManager S7 — Thatcham S7
Insurance-approved tracking without driver ID tags, with live location and journey history through the app. The right choice where your policy asks for an approved tracker but hasn’t specified S5.
TrackManager Lockout
Tracking with immobilisation built in — the vehicle is locked out and won’t drive away without authorisation. This is TrackManager’s answer to what the trade generally calls an S5 Plus: rather than only telling you the vehicle is being stolen, it stops the theft from working in the first place. Our usual recommendation on vehicles that are actively targeted for relay and keyless attacks.
TrackManager EV Lockout — for electric vehicles
The Lockout system built for electric vehicles. EVs don’t wire up like a petrol car — the electrical architecture is different and a parked EV sleeps far more deeply — so the immobilisation has to work with the vehicle’s own systems rather than against them. Fitted wrong, you get warning lights, missed alerts or a flat 12V battery. This is the version to ask about if you drive electric.
TrackManager Hybrid Lockout — for hybrid vehicles
The Lockout system set up for hybrids, which sit awkwardly between the two. A hybrid switches between engine and battery power constantly, so the system has to read the vehicle’s power state properly rather than guessing — otherwise you get false alerts, or silence at the moment it matters. Worth knowing that hybrids are among the most heavily targeted vehicles on the road right now.
TrackManager Fleet
Live track-and-trace with position updates as often as every thirty seconds, journey history, geofencing with boundary alerts, speeding and movement alerts, driver behaviour reporting on speed and braking, and tachograph data with working-time registration for HGV operators. Remote immobilisation is available too, which is worth having on hire and lease vehicles. Runs on desktop and through iOS and Android apps. See our fleet and HGV security page.
The fleet units aren’t Thatcham approved, and they’re not meant to be — a fleet tracker is a management tool, not an insurance-approved security device. But here’s the part worth knowing: they can be upgraded to a Thatcham-approved system at a later date if a customer needs it. So if one of your vehicles moves up in value, or an insurer changes what they’ll accept, you upgrade that unit instead of ripping it out and starting over. Not many fleet systems let you do that, and it’s the main reason we recommend TrackManager to businesses who aren’t sure yet what they’ll need in two years.
Why Who Fits It Matters As Much As What You Buy
A tracker is only as good as its installation — and that goes double for anything with immobilisation in it, where a careless install means warning lights, flat batteries or a vehicle that won’t start when you need it. We’ve been doing this for over thirty years, we’re TASSA approved, and we fit at your home or workplace so your vehicle never leaves you.
For fleets we’ll come to your yard and do the vehicles together, set your managers up on the platform, and show your team how to read the reports before we leave. We cover Essex, Hertfordshire and North London from our base in Cheshunt.

TrackManager FAQs
What is a TrackManager Lockout?
It’s a TrackManager tracking system with immobilisation built in — the vehicle is locked out so it can’t be driven away without authorisation. There are dedicated versions for electric and hybrid vehicles, because those need the immobilisation wiring approached differently to a petrol or diesel car.
Is TrackManager Thatcham approved?
The S5 and S7 units are Thatcham certified. The fleet units aren’t — a fleet tracker is a management tool rather than an insurance-approved security device — but they can be upgraded to a Thatcham-approved system later if you need it. Always tell your insurer exactly which category has been fitted.
Can a TrackManager fleet unit be upgraded to a Thatcham-approved system?
Yes — and it’s one of the best reasons to choose TrackManager for a fleet. If a vehicle later needs an insurance-approved tracker, whether because it’s gone up in value or because your insurer has changed what they’ll accept, the existing fleet unit can be upgraded rather than replaced. You’re not paying twice for a decision you made two years earlier. Give us a call and we’ll sort the upgrade.
What’s the difference between TrackManager and TrackManager Lite?
Lite is the lower-cost tier covering live tracking and trip history — plenty for most people who just want to see where the vehicle is. The full platform adds driver behaviour reporting, tachograph and working-time data, deeper reporting and fleet management tools. You can start on Lite and move up.
How many vehicles can it handle?
From one vehicle upwards — we fit it for sole traders with a single van and for companies running large fleets. Tell us how many you’ve got and what you need to see, and we’ll tell you which tier fits.
Am I tied into a long contract?
TrackManager bills monthly without a long-term tie-in, which is one of the reasons we like it for businesses whose fleet size moves through the year. Call us for current pricing.
